Cover Search

Cover Search is a just-for-me project that finds cover and poster art for multiple types of media from one search box, including television, movies, music, podcasts, books, and theatrical performances.
Use case
To add art to my personal media reviews blog, I was manually searching different websites to download book and album covers, movie posters, podcast art, and theater posters. It was tedious and time-consuming. I had multiple tabs pinned with different interfaces I had to remember which one to go to depending on the type of cover art I was looking for. Often I got back images that were too small to use. Cover Search returns high-resolution images for all types of media from a single interface, with easy buttons to copy the image URL or open them in a new tab.

How I built it
Built this one using Quests, which was perfect because it made most sense as a personal webapp. Quests builds and runs the app locally, which is all I needed—no starting a web server or deploying to a host involved.
Here was my first prompt:
Build a single page webapp that gives the user the cover art associated with a piece of media. It offers the user a search box for the title of an album, a film, a television show, a podcast, a book, or a Broadway show. When the user presses Enter or the search button, the app queries databases like OMDB to return high-res album or TV or Playbill art that is direct-linked.
From there it took a few more prompts to troubleshoot missing or too-small images, but all-in this was a quick hour of work that will save me that much in image hunting in a few months.
